High Potential fans better buckle up for one wild ride of a season finale. The promo for “Let’s Play” is creepy on another level with a slight Saw-feel from how the clip sets up the episode.

If you haven’t seen the promo yet, I am not exaggerating how chilling it is. And from the looks of things, the killer is gunning for the LAPD in a big way.

There was never a doubt that High Potential wouldn’t pull out all the stops for an epic ending to the show’s freshman season. It looks like Morgan will have to use all the brain power she has rolling around in that noggin of hers.

I mean, with a tagline like “Let the mind games begin,” it’s hard not to be creeped out after so many happy endings to every episode of High Potential.

High Potential May Be Short One Key Team Member in the Finale

The promo for the High Potential Season 1 Finale starts with Karadec receiving an email that he shows to Morgan of a hostage holding a sign that reads “2 Hours to Make Your Move.”

This will be Morgan’s first time dealing with a sick mastermind who is turning the tables on the cops and forcing their hand.

Every murderer thus far has done everything they can to stay off the LAPD’s radar. Whatever this person has planned for Morgan and the team may be more than Morgan’s own mind can crack.

I would say it’s all hands on deck, but the precinct may be short a detective when it takes on this case. In the promo, Oz enters his car, and his airbag deploys, knocking him out.

It then cuts to Daphne (Javicia Leslie) discovering Oz’s car empty with traces of blood.

If something horrible happens to Oz before we’ve gotten to know the character, you can count on me being one unhappy viewer.

Remember how I said the promo had a Saw-like feel? That’s because there seemed to be multiple victims in the promo, all in their own water-downed Saw trap. It’s very blink-and-you-miss-it, but I’m pretty sure there was a brief shot of a woman locked in a safe.

Right after, you see the shock on Morgan’s face.

The Last Thing Anyone Needs on High Potential Is a Psychopath Who Wants the Cops to Get Closer

As much as I love how Morgan can own a case and crack it without breaking a sweat, I’ll admit that watching her face a challenge will be fun.

In the High Potential Season 1 Episode 13 promo, Morgan remarks, “This case. It’s different from the rest.” I don’t know about you, but I get nervous whenever Morgan gets serious about a case.

High Potential has spoiled us with Morgan’s (Kaitlin Olson) superhuman ability to think any murderer into submission. What happens if the killer this time is as smart as our protagonist?

Towards the end of the clip, Morgan admits that the person they are trying to catch is kind of brilliant. That would certainly be a change for once.

Every murderer so far in High Potential Season 1 has inadvertently left a mountain of evidence for Morgan to piece together. Now, the killer is purposely leaving behind sweet notes for Karadec and the cops.

What do you do when a psychopath leaves a message like “The fun has just begun”?

The Episode Synopsis Leaves Much to Be Desired, but TV Fanatic Has All the Juicy Details

The official synopsis for High Potential Season 1 Episode 13 reads, “An anonymous tip to the LAPD sparks an unusual multiple-victim kidnapping investigation, forcing the team to rely on board games and puzzles to track down their suspect.”

(Mitch Hasseth/Disney)

Listen, the description for “Let’s Play” mentions kidnapping, but there has yet to be a single episode of High Potential where someone didn’t die.

Even High Potential Season 1 Episode 4, where the father of the little girls who were kidnapped was killed. So, even though there is no mention of a death, it would be weird for the show to change up its formula now.

At least there are two things we can look forward to in the finale: seeing the whole team dressed to the nines in cocktail attire.

That should relax the many viewers who think Morgan overdoes it with the short skirts and shorts. For everyone else, there seem to be some new developments in a certain missing-persons case, according to the episode photos.

It’s Time for High Potential to Make Good on a Promise Made to Morgan

You’ve likely guessed it, but I think we may finally have some answers about Morgan’s former partner, Roman, who disappeared.

Sadly, Roman will probably not be in the season finale, but Gio is back from the looks of it. He had better have that information that he had promised Morgan, too.

We last saw this rather sketchy character in High Potential Season 1 Episode 9, “The RAMs.” Who here remembers what the acronym stood for?

DOMENICK LOMBARDOZZI
(Carlos Lopez-Calleja/Disney)

If you don’t recall, it heartbreakingly stood for Roman, Ava, and Morgan. High Potential never misses a chance to cut right to the heart.

This all reminds me of one viewer from the earlier episodes theorizing that the Roman case would likely lead into the following season. If you’re reading this, you were right.

So, to recap, we have a killer toying with the LAPD with multiple kidnappings. We have Oz (Deniz Akdeniz) disappearing from his car. Finally, we have the return of Gio hopefully with the expected info about Morgan’s missing man.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if Roman was still alive after all this time? Is it sadder if he is dead or if he never returned home to his family? We can speculate all day, but there’s only one way to know for certain.

We’ll just have to pop some popcorn and brace ourselves for anything and everything to happen. You know High Potential will end on some kind of nail-biting cliffhanger.

However, I might need a support blanket because I don’t like creepy masks, especially the smiling kind. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned hockey masks?

For now, check out the CBS’s High Potential Season 1 Finale promo!

Do you think something terrible is going to happen to Oz?

Did the promo creep you out as much as it did me?
