Here’s your spoilerific scene-by-scene recap of “Ladies’ Night.” To read our thoughts and opinions about the episode, read our NCIS Season 22 Episode 16 review.

A couple is making out in their car when an old man wanders by, looking into her window. The girl opens the window, telling him to move along. One second later, another knock at the window. A guy asking them to call 9-1-1. His girlfriend is still inside. There’s a massive fire in the building behind them.

McGee and Nick disagree on the zombie movie trailer they just watched. The ladies walk in. It’s ladies’ night, and Jess and Kasie are excited to go out with Robin. The dress code? Crafty chic. They think Nick knows what it means and pile up on them.

(Erik Voake/CBS)

He’s just happy to have the night off. McGee is going to a movie, but he’s not eager to see Zombie Apocalypse.

Parker arrives: they’ve got a body.

Petty Officer First Class Jennifer Garcia worked logistics at the Navy yard. She was helping the owner of the place sell antiques online. The wiring is ridiculously old. But if it was an accident, why didn’t their victim try to run?

The boyfriend was there, and he fell asleep on the couch after they ate takeout. When he woke up, the place was filled with smoke. He ran, but ran back inside to look for Jen. He would have run back into any fire for her.

Jess finds a fireman in her focal point. He seems nice, and he’s impressed with her sense of humor. He didn’t always want to be a firefighter, but he did always want a dalmatian. He asks her to dinner, but she has plans.

McGee finds a fan radiation pattern, which is like when you throw a soam into water and it ripples. They don’t think this fire was an accident. Jennifer’s windpipe was crushed. They have means and opportunity, now they just need motive.

(Erik Voake/CBS)

Kasie is already dressed for the night. She is hoping to manifest fast answers. She’s found quite a lot so far, including turpentine, engraving on the lighter, and phone data. Now, they’ve got motive.

Jen’s text messages indicate that the couple was fighting. He says it was his fault because he fought their anniversary. He apologized with flowers and a necklace. He’s shocked to hear she was murdered, even when they bring up his past assault charge.

He admits that he lost his cool when he got the charge, immediately losing his cool. The lighter is also his. But all of this adds up to the fact that this is likely pointing to someone else entirely, even if he clams up.

Robin shows up for Ladies’ Night. They have bad news. But then Parker sweeps in. The boys have got this. Go have your ladies’ night!

Robin takes them to a wine and clay night. She says this is what it’s all about. Friends and family.

(Michael Yarish/CBS )

Jess says she gave the fireman her number. He’s in this year’s calendar and promises to give her a sneak peek. Kasie is back on dating apps. She panic “unmatches” people.

Jess brings up work again. There was a gold necklace burned into Jennifer Garcia’s flesh. Now she’s questioning whether they really made up. Maybe he’s not the killer after all.

They decide to put it out of their minds and enjoy the moment.

McGee is playing a video game (Killing with Kindness 3). He invites Nick to play, but Nick turns him down. Challenging Nick is the only way to get him to play. Director Vance arrives. Nick says they solved the case with the boyfriend. Vance hoped to grab a drink with Parker, but he couldn’t find him.

Jess and Kasie find ways to talk about the case. Jennifer either put the necklace on herself or he put it on as a way to make his story seem true.

Vance is kicking Teddy Bear ass in the video game. This is a lot more therapeutic than drinks with Parker, he says. Easier on the liver, Nick replies.

(Erik Voake/CBS)

When McGee goes to retrieve the pizza, he notices Kasie’s computer woke up. McGee thinks they might be working the case remotely.

Parker, meanwhile, is looking at his mother’s autopsy report. When called, he suggests that everyone take the night off. The case can wait until Monday.

Kasie is using the kiln and one of her own necklaces for an experiment. If Garcia’s necklace was squished, then the boyfriend wasn’t the killer. Dan didn’t plant it. They did make up.

The pottery shop owner is not impressed. They’ve even ruined her pottery because they didn’t take it out of the kiln first.

Nick says if he even mentions work, Robin gets pissed.

Dan’s cell phone puts him two miles away from the fire.

(Erik Voake/CBS)

Robin is pissed off and knows that even when Jess receives the Mr. December pic, they’re still on the job. They even have cheese on the way. She seems angrier at Nick than at them. Jess says he sacrifices a lot for NCIS. They all do. One mistake is the difference between life and death.

She signed up to date Nick, not NCIS. Unfortunately, it’s a bad package deal. They need work-life balance. Kasie and Jess pretend to enjoy the evening. Kasie even makes eyes with the waitress.

Then Robin has a question about the case. If it’s not a crime of passion, then what’s the motive for the murder? Maybe she’ll get into it. Kasie side-mouths to Jess, “Is she testing us or not?”

Parker finds it strange that Dan never thought to mention his alibi. He was at a dive bar called the Gravel Pit. The guy he beat up at the club, Lucas Roman, was Jennifer’s ex-boyfriend.

Dan was defending his girlfriend from a stalker. He also got a full scholarship from Duke. Smart people don’t leave lighters with their initials around.

(Erik Voake/CBS)

Bringing Robin into the case is much more helpful. She’s talking chakras from a photo of a statue. How did they end up in the wrong order if the owner is a Buddhist? Someone must have been in the office, knocked over a statue, and then rearranged them in the wrong order afterward.

Parker has decided that the guy Dan met with at the Gravel Pit was helping him in some way. He’s desperate to leave the guy out of it. If he doesn’t, he could go down, too.

His name is Liam. They grew up together. He’s got a good heart but made some mistakes. He just got out of prison.

He’s turning things around. He’s been sober for three months. He was going to take a drink, but Dan rushed over and took him home. If Liam’s PO finds out they met, he could go to jail. But Dan could go to jail for not telling him.

When he got back to the shop, he found the fire. The door was unlocked. But the only way to do that is if someone buzzes you in. They need to break into the place, so Parker came prepared with tools. Nick wishes he could talk with Robin about his work life. He can’t clock out. McGee is lucky Deliliah understands.

(Erik Voake/CBS)

The guys find the girls inside. Nick is shocked that Robin made a break in the case. She helped? What? Kasie calls out the guys for hopping the fence in their little loafers. They discover the cabinet has been moved. The safe behind it is empty.

It wasn’t a murder; it was a heist. (God, I hate heists.)

Jimmy is preparing to leave when he runs into the gang. Nick is so happy that Robin is playing along.

They bring Dan back in to place his hands in a killer’s handprint. The hands are enormous; Dans are not.

Kasie learned that it’s almost impossible to break into that safe without power. The firemen can cut the power. Mr. December is a thief. Not sure I like this development.

The fire was no accident. It was a carefully planned robbery. He arrived at the fire an hour before it began. They, of course, go to arrest him. The firemen will take care of him if NCIS won’t.

(Michael Yarish/CBS)

Dan can’t believe that Jennifer died for some rare books and old stamps. It’s not a fair trade. Not even close.

Dan has officially been cleared of all charges, and he thanks NCIS.

Robin can’t believe they do this every day. She’s exhausted. But now she understands why they can’t turn it off. She had fun, but it’s not something she can do every day. Robin breaks up with Nick so she doesn’t get in his way.

Kasie finds the Killing with Kindness Game features a level 15 glitter lord. It was Vance. He did it.
